Over the years the course has evolved and changed based on the needs of the sector. Training and apprenticeship options with GRETB Training Centre

The GRETB Training Centre is working hard to ensure the safe return and wellbeing of learners and staff as they navigate a new training and education landscape, where learners can enjoy the training centre experience through blended and online engagement. The GRETB Training Centre will continue to offer a wide range of training courses using full time, part time, or blended learning delivery methods. All courses are run subject to guidelines issued by the Department of Education and Skills which will be in line with the Government roadmap for reopening society and business and plans for how the Covid-19 restrictions will be lifted.

Did you know that we all learn in different ways? In further education and training the Galway & Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB) takes the different learning styles into account when teaching adult learners. There are three main learning styles - visual, where we learn by seeing; auditory, where we learn by listening; and kinaesthetic, where we learn by doing.

The GRETB Training Centre offers full time day, evening, and Saturday training courses and is continuously developing new options to meet the needs of learners and industry. Last Friday, 30 apprentices received their QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft, bringing the number to 95 apprentices who graduated fully in 2019 from Galway and Roscommon.

GRETB to offer sports, recreation and exercise course in Oranmore

A new sports, recreation, and exercise course will start in Oranmore in November. This fulltime QQI Level 5 programme provided by the GRETB Training Centre is a broad course that will enable students to assist in the running of a sports and leisure facility. The course is completed over a period of 46 weeks. Initially students spend time learning in the classroom, with the final 14 weeks working full time and part time in the industry.

The GRETB Training Centre open day will take place on Wednesday September 11 from 10.30am to 3.30pm. The open day is the ideal opportunity to visit the largest training centre in the west of Ireland. Learners can avail of day, evening, and Saturday courses, and apprenticeships.
